Long Beach Middle School has won the Justin Bieber Can Food Drive! They win a concert at their school!
Congratulations to Long Beach Middle School for collecting more than 27,000 pounds of food to win a concert from Justin Bieber!
Long Beach Middle School in Lido Beach, NY raised the most food, weighing in at 27,014 lbs., and will ultimately win a concert with Justin Bieber at the school. More than 150 high school and middle schools in the tri-state area took part in the food drive. Close contenders in the contest were Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, collecting 10,357 lbs. of food and Rye Middle School with 10,646 lbs.
“When Long Beach Middle School students heard about the 92.3 contest with Justin Bieber, they sprung into action,” said Audrey Goropeuschek, Principal of Long Beach Middle School. “Students made over 100 signs, stood for hours on the weekends outside local markets asking shoppers to donate food, spent their allowance money on canned food, raided their parents’ pantry cabinets and carried heavy back packs full of donations to school each day in November. I am so proud that our students will help feed many Long Beach families during the holiday season.”
Together, this food drive raised over 150,000 lbs of food, which will provide over 100,000 meals for the following food banks: Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Food Bank For New York City, Food Bank for Westchester, Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Island Harvest, Long Island Cares, Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, and The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Inc.
